After multiple scrape-ups in India, OctoStrange emerges victorious. Leaving Kolkata and following the coast east, Octo feels a sense.. Somehow, it knows it's on the right path. Approaching a large land mass after days at sea, a rising sun illuminates a huge mountain. This place seems rather familiar. OctoStrange emerges in a small port city. Donning the local garb and equipping itself with a sword (mostly for show) Octo quickly picks up work, helping small clans and poor villagers in need.
This is honest pay; they feel as if they have found their place, some balance... but it is not to be. Years pass and one day Octo awakens to the sound of sirens, explosions, planes, machine gun fire and tanks. Octo does what it can to help, for days and weeks it fights. Relentless are the attackers, until every village, every one of OctoStrange's friends were destroyed; reduced to ash, rubble & bones. Octo sat alone, its heart crushed. Nothing remained except two cites. News came quick that something had destroyed the first city, a flash brighter than a thousand suns.
Octo knew what this was. The destructive, abhorrent nature of "man." These creatures lusted for power, for greed, for control. Octo had to act quick. Moving to the last city, it watched as a plane flew over. A small object flew from its hull as it sung a high pitch song of death. OctoStrange thought of all its friends; those who had helped when they themselves had nothing to give. It thought of all the countless stories it had heard from the poor, the trampled, the forgotten. Those who had stood up in the face of such great adversity.
Though it had never contemplated its life in this way.. It finally realized love and that sometimes, the sacrifice of one for the many, was worth more than the sacrifice of many for one; thankfully, they had eight.
In a single bound it launched itself from the ground directly into the path of the projectile stretching its body to cover the entire city.
A flash of light, and then nothing. Silence.... What had felt like an eternity passed....... then faintly a voice. Octo, you must wake, it is time to begin...
